Accidental Craft Day

Today was apparently Accidental Craft Day in my life. On Saturday we are having our annual Family Fest and this year the theme is Carnival. Everyone needs help with their costumes. I don't consider myself suuuuper crafty, but I do know how to wield a glue gun. So when I got to work today the very first thing the activity director said to me was "I made my tail and it looks goofy, and I don't know how to make the ears stand up!" She is planning to be a lion for Family Fest but didn't want to buy stuff for the costume. I told her an old pair of pantyhose cut up and stuffed is a good tail, and that construction paper or felt is good for the ears. I asked her to let me clock in and then I would see what I could do. So she brought me her felt, her headband, and an already steaming hot glue gun. I did the best I could with the time frame I had (I had half an hour before I had to head into a meeting), and keep in mind that she will be curling and teasing and blow drying her hair waaaay out to give it a "mane" look. Then during my lunch I wanted to test out this nifty Halloween decoration with some jars Tracy Coburn had given me.




The jars I used are small jam jars kind of, but they fit perfectly in the window in front of my office.


Ta-da! Accidental Craft Day!

It's actually sort of good because these are things that bring me joy. And this morning in the very slim amount of time I spent with the Lord I asked to help me with my joy. I have such a bad attitude I think, about a lot. And this was something small and silly that brought me joy today. And it was good that I was able to help out the Activity Director. Sometimes I think I am snotty to her because...well. To be perfectly honest, I felt a little territorial when she first got here. I was the new kid on the block! The youngin'! The wonder kid. And when she showed up that all sorta went out the window. I begrudged her for it and am snotty to her sometimes. I need to not be. I was very sweet and cheerful to her this morning when helping her with her ears. I need to bring lots of that back into my heart towards everyone in general.

In other news my bachelorette party is going to be at a chocolate buffet at a fancy hotel resturant....mmmmm...yuuuuuum.
